Another disaster struck Liam Payne’s family, as his father now faces the possibility of going to court after a lawsuit was filed by close friend Roger Nores.

Rogelio “Roger” Nores, a close friend of the late Liam Payne, has filed a defamation lawsuit against the singer’s father, Geoff Payne,

following accusations of negligence and manslaughter tied to Liam’s tragic death.

The lawsuit, filed Wednesday in Florida and obtained by Page Six, alleges that Geoff made sworn statements about Nores that were “false,

contained material omissions, and many parts were not based on personal knowledge.”

These statements, Nores claims, have been widely circulated in the media and have significantly damaged his reputation.

Geoff’s Allegations

According to the lawsuit, Geoff stated that Liam, who passed away in October 2024, was under Nores’ care due to his struggles with addiction. However, Nores firmly denies having any legal or professional responsibility for Liam’s care, insisting they were simply close friends offering mutual support.

Geoff also alleged that he and Nores, along with Liam’s bodyguard, Bledar Vata, had formed a team to oversee the singer’s recovery under medical supervision. Nores refutes these claims, asserting that Geoff had access to all medical details concerning Liam and that any lack of knowledge was due to Geoff’s own choices.

The Tragic Circumstances

Liam Payne, best known as a member of the globally successful band One Direction, died on October 16, 2024, at the age of 31. He fell from the third-story balcony of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires after consuming alcohol and illegal drugs. Nores, who was with Liam in the hours leading up to his death, maintains that he left him in good spirits and surrounded by others at the hotel.

The tragic incident has led to multiple legal actions. In addition to Nores, several others have been charged with manslaughter, including hotel staff accused of negligence and two employees accused of supplying drugs to the singer.

Disputing the Claims

Geoff’s sworn statements also alleged that Liam and Nores concealed his substance abuse issues from a psychiatrist to secure medication. The statements further suggested that Nores had assumed responsibility for Liam’s care, particularly during their time in Buenos Aires.

Nores has vehemently denied these allegations, calling Geoff’s claims “100 percent fiction.” He asserts that he never visited a psychiatrist with Liam or withheld any medical information.

“Geoff needs to backtrack on his sworn statement as he very well knows I wasn’t Liam’s nurse or caretaker,” Nores said in a statement to Page Six. “Liam, who I miss every day, was my dear friend and an independent, brilliant, respectful free man who did whatever he wanted whenever he wanted.”

Lawsuit for Justice

Nores claims he attempted to resolve the matter privately by reaching out to Geoff for a retraction of his remarks, but his efforts were unsuccessful. As a result, he proceeded with the defamation lawsuit, stating that all proceeds will go to Liam’s son, Bear Payne.

“He doesn’t seem to acknowledge the harm he has done,” Nores said. “He literally went to the local federal prosecutor and told them all the stuff you see in there, plus a really strong statement saying everything is Roger’s fault and responsibility.”

Other Legal Charges

In addition to Nores’ manslaughter charges, hotel manager Gilda Martin and receptionist Esteban Grassi have been accused of negligence in the events leading to Liam’s death. Two other hotel employees, Braian Paiz and Ezequiel Pereyra, face allegations of supplying illegal drugs to the late singer. All individuals charged have denied wrongdoing.

The lawsuit highlights the complexities surrounding Liam Payne’s tragic death and the legal and personal battles that have unfolded in its wake. For Nores, the defamation case is an opportunity to clear his name and honor the memory of his friend, whose loss continues to resonate with fans and loved ones worldwide.
