Wendy Williams, known for her candid takes on celebrity gossip, has shared her thoughts on Sean “Diddy” Combs’ ongoing legal troubles.
During an eye-opening phone interview on The Breakfast Club Thursday morning, the former talk show host didn’t hold back, predicting severe consequences for the music mogul.
“Diddy will go to prison for life, people,” Williams declared while wrapping up her call. “You don’t know the things that I know about Diddy back in the day.”
Her comments follow Combs’ September 2024 arrest in New York City on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and prostitution.
The 55-year-old Grammy winner has pleaded not guilty to all charges but remains detained at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center after being denied bail multiple times.
Wendy Williams: “It’s About Time”
Williams, 60, expressed her belief that justice is catching up to Combs. “You know what? It’s about time, people. It is about time. Diddy done,” she said emphatically.
This isn’t the first time Williams has scrutinized Combs’ actions. A resurfaced clip from her eponymous 2015 talk show highlighted her questioning his allegedly controlling behavior toward then-girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura. “When you date a mogul, it’s really difficult to avoid them,” she said at the time, describing hypothetical scenarios of Combs’ intrusive tendencies.
Combs’ Legal Troubles
Combs’ current charges stem from a federal investigation that has led to a series of lawsuits and allegations. The legal scrutiny intensified in November 2023 when Ventura, 38, filed a lawsuit accusing him of rape and abuse. The case was settled within 24 hours for an undisclosed amount.
Combs and Ventura’s relationship, which spanned more than a decade from 2007 to 2018, was fraught with public and private challenges. Despite their history, the allegations brought against him have reignited discussions about power dynamics in their relationship and Combs’ behavior during that time.
Feud Between Williams and Combs
The remarks on The Breakfast Club also reflect a longstanding feud between Williams and Combs. In her 2004 memoir, The Wendy Williams Experience, she alleged that Combs tried to sabotage her career, playing a role in her 1998 firing from Hot 97 radio.
“The hell he put me through. I will never forget,” she wrote. “But I don’t hate him.”
However, the pair seemingly buried the hatchet during a 2017 interview on The Wendy Williams Show, which Williams called a “full-circle moment.”
Wendy Williams Opens Up About Her Own Challenges
In addition to addressing Combs, Williams used her interview to discuss personal struggles, including feeling “trapped” in a New York facility she likened to a “prison.”
Williams has faced numerous health challenges and legal battles in recent years. Since 2022, she has been under a court-ordered guardianship, which she disputes. Denying claims of cognitive impairment, Williams said, “I am definitely isolated. I sit here, and my life goes by.”
Diddy’s Ongoing Fight
Combs’ legal team has yet to respond to Williams’ comments, but the embattled mogul continues to maintain his innocence. Despite his high-profile arrest and mounting allegations, his supporters remain hopeful for a fair trial.
While it remains to be seen how Combs’ case will unfold, Williams’ bold statements underscore her unfiltered style and her knack for reigniting conversations about hot-button issues.
For the music mogul, however, the road ahead appears fraught with challenges as he fights to clear his name amidst a storm of legal battles and public scrutiny.
