Why Harrison Ford Didn’t Bring Wife Calista Flockhart as His 2025 SAG Awards Date

Harrison Ford made a solo appearance at the 2025 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, and while some fans may have wondered why his wife, 

Calista Flockhart, wasn’t by his side, the actor had a perfectly good reason. Flockhart was unable to attend because of prior commitments—

specifically, she was in New York working on a play.

Ford, 82, shared the reason behind his wife’s absence while speaking with People and Entertainment Weekly on the red carpet. 

“My wife is in New York doing a play,” he explained. Although he didn’t have Flockhart, 60, 

as his date for the evening, he wasn’t entirely alone—he revealed that he brought his agent as his plus-one.

A Fun-Filled Night for Ford

Despite attending the awards show without his wife, Ford appeared to be in great spirits. At one point, he playfully hid behind a blue curtain on the red carpet as photographers tried to capture their shots. Eventually, he emerged, striking poses before heading inside the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

This year’s SAG Awards were particularly special for Ford, as he received his first-ever nominations from the prestigious event. He was recognized in two categories: Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Paul in Apple TV+’s Shrinking, and Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series alongside his fellow cast members.

A Love Story That Began at the Golden Globes

Ford and Flockhart’s love story began more than two decades ago when they first crossed paths at the 2002 Golden Globe Awards. The following year, the Indiana Jones star openly expressed his love for the Ally McBeal actress.

“I’m in love,” Ford gushed to Hello! magazine in 2003. He spoke about how powerful and fulfilling romantic love can be, emphasizing that it can happen at any stage in life. “I was not surprised that I was able to fall in love, and I wasn’t surprised that I did,” he said.

For Flockhart, their relationship has always been about the connection they share rather than their 22-year age difference. “It doesn’t factor into our relationship at all,” she said in the same interview, dismissing any concerns about their age gap.

Their romance continued to flourish, and in February 2009, Ford proposed. The couple tied the knot the following year, exchanging vows in a private ceremony in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in June 2010.

A Blended Family and Private Life

When Ford and Flockhart married, the actor embraced his role as a father to her son, Liam, whom she had adopted shortly before their relationship began. Now 24, Liam remains a cherished part of their family dynamic.

Ford also has four other children from his previous marriages. He shares two sons, Ben, 58, and Willard, 55, with his first wife, Mary Marquardt, whom he was married to from 1964 to 1979. He also has a son, Malcolm, 37, and a daughter, Georgia, 34, from his second marriage to screenwriter Melissa Mathison. Ford and Mathison were together for two decades before divorcing in 2004. Sadly, Mathison passed away in 2015 after a battle with cancer.

Although Ford and Flockhart have been together for over 20 years, they maintain a relatively low-profile relationship. They are rarely seen making joint public appearances and have yet to collaborate on any acting projects.

Would Ford and Flockhart Ever Work Together?

While many Hollywood couples have worked together on screen, Ford and Flockhart have not yet had that opportunity. However, that’s not due to a lack of interest. In a recent interview with Us Weekly, Ford explained that they simply haven’t been offered the right project.

“That’s just the circumstantial reality where we haven’t been offered something where we’d work together,” he said. But that doesn’t mean he’s opposed to the idea. In fact, he admitted that he would “love to work” with his wife if the right opportunity presented itself.

Ford’s Sweet Tribute to Flockhart

Though Flockhart couldn’t attend the SAG Awards with Ford, she was still in his thoughts. This isn’t the first time the legendary actor has publicly expressed his appreciation for his wife. In January, during his speech at the Critics Choice Awards, Ford took a moment to thank Flockhart, referring to her as “lovely” and acknowledging her unwavering support.

While fans may have missed seeing the couple together on the red carpet, their strong and enduring relationship remains evident. With Flockhart focused on her theater work and Ford celebrating his SAG nominations, the couple continues to support each other’s careers while maintaining a bond that has lasted for more than two decades.
