Brooke Shields stuns attendees at the SAG Awards by claiming that Fran Drescher once S.H.O.T. her ruthlessly: “She sh0t me up.”

Brooke Shields and Fran Drescher share a friendship that goes beyond the glitz and glam of Hollywood.

The two actresses, who have been close for years, recently reunited on the red carpet at the 2025 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards.

During an interview with PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly, Shields, 59, shared a playful and heartwarming moment with Drescher, 67,

while revealing how the The Nanny star had a significant role in helping her with fertility treatments during a challenging time in her life.

As Shields greeted Drescher during the interview, she jokingly revealed, “She helped me with my fertility treatments when I was trying to get pregnant.”

With a laugh, she added, “She shot me up,” referring to the injections that are often part of in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments.

The lighthearted moment brought smiles to the faces of the interviewers and viewers alike, highlighting the deep bond between the two women.

Drescher, known for her iconic role in The Nanny, humorously confirmed the story, saying, “That’s true, that’s true,” as she joined her longtime friend on camera. This candid moment between the two stars shed light on their friendship, built on mutual support and trust.

Shields, who has been very open about her fertility journey, welcomed her first child, daughter Rowan, 21, with her husband, Chris Henchy, through IVF. Shields has consistently used her platform to discuss her struggles with IVF, as well as the emotional toll it took on her during the process. Her openness about the journey made her one of the first high-profile women to talk about IVF publicly, and she’s been an advocate for bringing awareness to fertility treatments ever since.

Her daughter Rowan has also spoken about the impact of her mother’s candid discussions on IVF. In an interview earlier this year, Rowan shared how much she admired her mother’s willingness to open up about her experiences with fertility treatments and postpartum depression. “My mom went through a lot and IVF too. I wouldn’t be here without IVF,” Rowan said. “I was frozen for two years, and I think Mom talking about it with us from an early age, we are now aware. That’s an important conversation for young women.”

Shields’ willingness to speak out about IVF and postpartum depression came to the forefront in her 2005 memoir Down Came the Rain, where she detailed her struggles with postpartum depression following the birth of Rowan. The book was one of the first of its kind, offering a raw and honest look at the emotional difficulties many women face after childbirth. Shields’ openness helped normalize these conversations, especially in a time when such topics were often considered taboo.

Rowan also reflected on how her mother’s experiences had a lasting impact, noting, “I don’t want my mother to ever go through anything bad, but when the book came out, it changed a lot of women’s lives.” She added, “There was a beneficial outcome for something so horrible, and she now has a stronger connection with me because of what she went through.” Rowan’s gratitude for her mother’s transparency speaks volumes about the positive influence Shields’ bravery had on her family and countless women.

Shields, in turn, explained that her decision to write about her experiences was motivated by a lack of open discussions on the topic at the time. “No one was talking about it,” she shared. “And another thing is—these are two women who may or may not have children, but if they did, there’s a potential it could happen [to them]. It’s just a tool—to help them know if something is off, that it’s common and should be addressed. Nothing is wrong with them. It’s not their fault.”

In addition to her work on fertility awareness, Shields continues to use her platform to advocate for women’s health and encourage open dialogue about topics that have long been considered private or shameful. Through her transparency and vulnerability, Shields has paved the way for others to share their own experiences and feel empowered in their own fertility journeys.

At the SAG Awards, the playful moment between Shields and Drescher was a testament to their enduring friendship, which has supported one another through both the lighthearted and challenging moments in their lives. Their candidness and humor in discussing such a personal subject showed their close bond and reflected their commitment to making important conversations about women’s health more accessible to the public. It’s clear that both Shields and Drescher are not just champions of their careers but also advocates for meaningful change in how we talk about fertility and mental health.
