Jenna Bush Hager of TODAY surprises by stating that her family would suffer bad luck if she opts to have a fourth child, noting the significant cost associated with it.

Jenna Bush Hager is content with her life as a mother of three, embracing her beautiful family that includes her children Mila, 11, Poppy, nine, and Hal, five.

She shares these precious moments with her husband, Henry Hager, and feels fortunate for the life they have created together.

However, during a recent appearance on *Today with Jenna and Friends*, she had an interesting conversation with her co-host

and close friend, Savannah Guthrie, about the idea of adding another child to their family.

The topic of expanding the family came up in a playful exchange during the show.

Savannah, ever the curious friend, shared a funny dream she had where Jenna was expecting her fourth baby.

She jokingly asked Jenna if she had any exciting pregnancy news to announce. Naturally, viewers were on the edge of their seats, anticipating a big reveal.

After a brief pause, Jenna burst into laughter, playfully starting a drumroll and teasing the audience with suspense. But the moment of anticipation was short-lived as she quickly clarified, “I have nothing to announce.” With a chuckle, she continued, “I’m pretty sure I’ve come to terms that three, even though it’s an imperfect number, is the perfect number for our house.”

Despite her definitive statement, Savannah assured her that feeling the urge to expand the family was completely normal. “I think they call it ‘being broody’,” Savannah shared. “You’re kind of broody for a third or a fourth. I would have had a third in a heartbeat, but, you know, I was up against the clock.”

Savannah’s candid comments resonated with many, particularly since she too understands the experience of having children later in life. The 53-year-old mother of two, who shares her daughter Vale, 10, and son Charley, eight, with her husband Michael Feldman, has often spoken about the joys and challenges of motherhood, especially as an older mom.

In a heartfelt conversation on the *Making Space* podcast, Savannah opened up about her experiences of becoming a mother later in life. “We had our kids late,” she shared. “You know, you go through life, you have your ups and downs, your heart breaks a few dozen times. You get some scar tissue.” Reflecting on her emotional journey as a mother, Savannah admitted, “I was so totally vulnerable to them. Because I knew…if anything happened to them, I would not be OK. I wouldn’t be OK. And it was terrifying. I was totally terrified by my vulnerability.”

Despite their different paths to motherhood, Savannah and Jenna share a bond that goes beyond their professional lives. Their children grew up together and have developed close friendships over the years. In fact, their bond is so strong that Savannah is Hal’s godmother, while Jenna is Vale’s godmother.

Their friendship extends beyond just their roles as mothers, as they both share in each other’s triumphs and challenges. Jenna has spoken lovingly of Vale on several occasions. “I want to weep because I’ve known Vale-y every day since she was born, many of us have,” Jenna shared. “But also I’m so lucky to be her godmother.” Jenna went on to describe how proud she was of Vale, acknowledging the gentle faith and values Savannah has passed down to her children without being preachy. “When the world feels dark, that is hope,” Jenna said, expressing her admiration for her friend’s parenting.

The deep bond between Jenna and Savannah’s families is one that has been nurtured over time. In an interview with *People*, Savannah described their families as being closer than friends, almost like cousins. “Our kids are still buddies. What we just do now is, she’s out of the city, so we just make weekend plans and try to see each other,” Savannah explained. “It was such a beautiful moment in time, those five, six, seven years that we were neighbors. Our kids grew up together.”

Though Jenna has settled comfortably into her life with her three children, her playful exchange with Savannah hints at the complexity of family planning and the emotional connections that come with motherhood. Whether or not Jenna and Henry choose to expand their family, it’s clear that Jenna’s focus remains on cherishing the family she has and the meaningful relationships she shares with those closest to her.
