Fox News host Carley Shimkus surprises audience by sharing the medication she needs to take before hosting at 1 a.m.: “If I don’t take it, everything would go wrong…”

Carley Shimkus, a well-known FOX News personality, has given fans a glimpse into her early-morning routine before taking to the air on Fox & Friends First.

The 37-year-old journalist, who co-hosts the popular morning show alongside Todd Piro, has a schedule that demands a strict and early start to her day.

In addition to her busy career, Shimkus is also embracing her new role as a mother.

She and her husband, Peter Buchignani, welcomed their son, Brock, in February,

and she has been open about the joys and challenges of balancing work with motherhood.

An Early Start to the Day

Hosting a morning news show means waking up before most people even go to bed, and Shimkus is no exception. She revealed that her alarm goes off at 1:15 a.m. each day, giving her just enough time to prepare for the 5 a.m. broadcast of Fox & Friends First.

Despite the early wake-up call, the TV host maintains a positive outlook. She admitted that she actually looks forward to waking up, thanks to her love of coffee. “I’m excited about my morning coffee before I even go to bed,” she joked.

Her passion for her job and her upbeat energy are part of what makes her such a fan favorite. Viewers have come to appreciate her lively personality and engaging presence on the show, even in the early hours of the morning.

Embracing Motherhood

Since welcoming her son Brock in February, Shimkus has shared heartwarming updates about her journey into motherhood. She noted how quickly her little one is growing, saying, “Even when I look back at pictures of him from four months ago—he’s changed so much.”

The FOX News star has posted adorable snapshots of Brock on social media, capturing precious moments with her family. One memorable set of pictures showed Brock meeting Santa for the first time. While one image featured the baby in tears as he sat on Santa’s lap, the others showed him looking curious and observant.

Shimkus captioned the post with humor, writing, “Santa was not a hit, but he recovered quickly and is definitely still on the nice list.”

Her fans flooded the comments with supportive messages, complimenting Brock’s resemblance to his mother. “He just gets cuter and cuter and looks like his mom,” one follower wrote. Another added, “Your baby is beautiful just like you. I have enjoyed watching you on FOX for years! Merry Christmas to you and yours.”

Juggling a Career and Family Life

Shimkus has been candid about her experiences as a new mom. During an appearance on Janice Dean’s podcast, she described motherhood as a “wild ride” but one she wouldn’t trade for anything.

She also mentioned that Brock is already being introduced to the world of politics—an inevitable part of life when your mother is a news anchor. While he may not understand much yet, she joked that he’s getting an early education in current events.

Despite the demands of her career, Shimkus remains dedicated to making time for family. She and her husband, Peter, have been soaking up every moment of parenthood and adjusting to the new dynamics in their household.

A Passion for Cooking

In addition to her role on FOX News, Shimkus is also a published author. She contributed to Cooking with Friends: Eat, Drink and Be Merry, a cookbook released by FOX News Books. The collection features a variety of recipes from some of the network’s most well-known personalities.

Her love for cooking dates back to her teenage years when she would watch Fox & Friends and take note of the food segments. The opportunity to be part of a FOX News cookbook was a dream come true for her.

Shimkus admitted that one of her favorite parts of the cooking segments on the show is indulging in the leftovers. “Janice and I are definitely big eaters,” she shared with a laugh.

She also values the fun and lighthearted moments that cooking brings to the broadcast. “The cooking segments add humor and a sense of warmth to the show. They make the news feel more personal,” she explained.

A Bright Future Ahead

Between her early-morning broadcasts, motherhood, and her love for cooking, Carley Shimkus has a full plate—but she wouldn’t have it any other way. Her ability to juggle her professional and personal life with grace and enthusiasm has made her a beloved figure on FOX News.

As she continues to entertain and inform viewers on Fox & Friends First, fans can expect to see more glimpses into her world, whether it’s behind the scenes of her morning routine, adorable moments with Brock, or her latest culinary adventures.
