Greg Gutfeld has returned to television after a nearly seven-week absence, opening up about his life at home with a newborn.
The Fox News host, known for his sharp wit and comedic take on current events, spent 46 days away from the screen to settle into his new role as a father.
Now, as he steps back into the spotlight, he is sharing insights into his experience—and, as expected, doing so with plenty of humor.
Greg Gutfeld Welcomes His First Child
The 60-year-old television personality, who hosts The Five and Gutfeld!, confirmed that he and his wife, Elena Moussa, welcomed their daughter, Mira, in December.
His time away from television sparked curiosity among fans, leading to weeks of speculation about his whereabouts.
He eventually put the rumors to rest with a statement announcing Mira’s birth.
“It is with great joy that my wife Elena and I have welcomed a baby girl into the world,” Gutfeld shared. “Mira is healthy with a real set of lungs.” Never one to miss a joke, he added that his daughter has his wife’s “beautiful eyes” and his own “rock-hard abs.”
Adjusting to Fatherhood
Returning to The Five on Monday, Gutfeld opened up about the challenges of fatherhood, admitting that his wife, 42-year-old Moussa, has taken on most of the parenting responsibilities. When asked by co-host Dana Perino whether he was involved in the late-night feedings, he responded with his signature humor.
“I kind of wander around and go, ‘Is everything okay?’” he said, explaining his approach to parenting. “I give emotional support, but Elena is pretty hands-on and keeps me away from it. She says I’m terrible at everything, and she’s right—I’m very clumsy.”
His co-host Jesse Watters then asked how he spent his time during his 46-day leave, to which Gutfeld jokingly admitted, “I watched everything [Yellowstone creator] Taylor Sheridan has ever put out.”
A New Home for a New Beginning
In what may have been a move to prepare for fatherhood, Gutfeld purchased a luxury loft in SoHo in July 2024 for $10.5 million. The upscale residence, situated in a six-story building that underwent a high-end renovation by DXA Studio, provides a stylish and spacious home for the growing family.
The 3,560-square-foot loft was previously sold for $8.55 million in 2021, and its listing photos revealed that one room had already been set up as a child’s bedroom—perhaps a lucky coincidence for the couple as they prepared for Mira’s arrival.
Despite purchasing the lavish new home, Gutfeld has retained his former New York residence, a three-bedroom, three-bathroom apartment just blocks away. Initially listed for rent at $24,000 per month in September, the property was quickly taken off the market, suggesting it was leased within days.
With over 1,000 additional square feet compared to his previous home, Gutfeld’s new space provides plenty of room for all the baby essentials he and Moussa will need in the coming years.
An Escape from City Life
For moments when they need a break from Manhattan, the couple has another retreat waiting for them. In 2018, Gutfeld purchased a lake house in South Salem, New York, offering a peaceful getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life. While he occasionally shares glimpses of the property on social media, his posts are often dedicated to their beloved French bulldog, Gus.
A Love Story That Spans Continents
Gutfeld and Moussa’s relationship has been a long-lasting one, built on an instant connection. The two met in Portugal while Gutfeld was working as an editor for Maxim UK and Moussa was a photo editor for Maxim Russia. Their romance unfolded quickly, and within five months, they were married in 2004.
Recalling their first meeting on the Club Random podcast with Bill Maher, Gutfeld said he knew right away that she was the one.
“I met her and I go, ‘Oh, that’s my wife.’ I just knew it,” he shared. “And then I spent three days in Portugal trying to talk to her.”
Clearly, his persistence paid off, as the couple has now been together for over two decades—and have just begun their journey as parents.
What’s Next for Greg Gutfeld?
Now back at work, Gutfeld is balancing his television career with his responsibilities as a new dad. While he may not be handling the late-night feedings or diaper changes, he’s embracing fatherhood in his own way—offering “emotional support” and plenty of laughter along the way.
As he settles into this new chapter, fans can expect Gutfeld to bring his parenting experiences into his shows, sharing hilarious takes on fatherhood while continuing to entertain audiences with his signature style.
