LeBron James declares he will NOT HOLD BACK against Stephen A. Smith after he dared to m3ss with his family: “You picked the wrong one…”

LeBron James found himself at the center of attention after a hot mic captured him discussing his recent heated interaction with sports analyst Stephen A. Smith.

The moment occurred before the Los Angeles Lakers faced off against the Boston Celtics on Saturday, March 8.

During a sideline conversation with ESPN broadcaster and former teammate Richard Jefferson,

James appeared to vent about his earlier encounter with Smith, sparking widespread speculation about their tense exchange.

LeBron’s Candid Conversation with Richard Jefferson

As James and Jefferson engaged in a quiet discussion courtside, cameras picked up parts of their conversation.

The Lakers star, who turned 40 in December, seemed to acknowledge something Jefferson had said, responding with, “I know,” followed by, “Right, right, right.”

James then appeared to express his frustration, saying, “That’s the only thing I’m tripping,” before continuing with, “I don’t give a f—. Once he talks about, ‘I’m pleading to you as a father.’ I can’t.”

While the full context of the conversation wasn’t entirely clear, fans quickly connected it to the recent courtside confrontation between James and Smith, which had already gone viral.

The Heated Courtside Confrontation

Just days before this moment, on March 6, James was seen having a tense exchange with Smith during a Lakers game. Many speculated that James was confronting the analyst over his recent remarks criticizing Bronny James, LeBron’s 20-year-old son, who is in his first season with the Lakers.

Smith later confirmed that LeBron had indeed approached him about his comments regarding Bronny’s performance. The outspoken sports commentator has been vocal in questioning Bronny’s place in the NBA, even suggesting that the young player is only in the league “because of his dad.”

Stephen A. Smith’s Response

Following their courtside interaction, Smith addressed the situation on First Take, explaining that he understood why James was upset.

“I really understood where he was coming from,” Smith said. “He was very, very upset. I could tell. But he could’ve called me. I’d have come to see him. I’d have had a conversation with him. He could’ve been just as upset face-to-face, man-to-man, instead of doing it courtside at the game.”

Smith acknowledged that he didn’t even realize the video of their confrontation had gained traction until he woke up the next morning. However, he maintained that he held no resentment toward James for defending his son.

“As a father, I get it,” Smith continued. “I’m not offended. I’m not insulted. I don’t have any animosity or animus towards LeBron James for this, nothing like that.”

Bronny James’ NBA Journey Under Scrutiny

Bronny James’ entry into the NBA has been a widely debated topic among sports analysts and fans. The young player, who joined the Lakers alongside his father, has struggled to make a significant impact in his rookie season, averaging just 1.4 points per game. Smith has been one of his most outspoken critics, questioning whether Bronny would have made it to the NBA on his own merit or if his famous last name played a role in his recruitment.

LeBron has always been vocal about supporting his son, making it clear that he wants to play alongside him in the league. The criticism of Bronny’s performance has undoubtedly fueled tension, culminating in James’ face-off with Smith at the Lakers game.

What’s Next?

While LeBron James has not publicly commented on his courtside confrontation with Smith, the hot mic moment with Richard Jefferson suggests that the incident is still on his mind. Whether or not the two will have a private conversation to resolve their differences remains to be seen.

For now, James continues to focus on his season with the Lakers, while Smith remains firm in his opinions as one of the most prominent voices in sports media. One thing is certain—this exchange has only added another chapter to the ongoing conversation about Bronny James’ place in the NBA and his father’s role in shaping his career.
