Loose Women star Linda Robson spills the truth about the hefty paycheck BBC executives handed her for joining their upcoming show.

Linda Robson has secured an exciting new role away from her long-standing position on Loose Women, stepping into the world of theatre with a major West End production.

Best known for her role as Tracey Stubbs in the beloved sitcom Birds of a Feather,

as well as her regular appearances on ITV’s popular daytime show,

the 66-year-old television star is now preparing for a stage comeback in a play based on the legendary comedy Fawlty Towers.

Exciting New Opportunity in Theatre

In a recent interview, Linda shared her enthusiasm about taking on this new challenge.

She revealed that she would be appearing in Fawlty Towers: The Play, a theatrical adaptation of the classic British sitcom created by John Cleese.

The project marks a return to live performance for Linda, who has primarily focused on television in recent years.

Speaking about the opportunity, she admitted to feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. “I did The Good Ship Murder, and then I’m going into Fawlty Towers, the play, for a couple of months, so I’m looking forward to that,” she said. When asked if she was apprehensive about stepping back onto the stage, she responded, “A little bit, yes. Because I haven’t done stage for a little while.”

Linda is wasting no time in preparing for the role, revealing that she plans to watch the play live before officially joining the cast. “I’m going to see it on Friday night, and then we start [the live shows] in probably May or June,” she added.

From Sitcom Star to Daytime TV Favorite

Linda has had a long and successful career in entertainment. She rose to fame playing Tracey Stubbs in Birds of a Feather, a role she first took on in the 1980s. The sitcom, which followed the lives of two sisters and their mischievous neighbor, became a massive hit, cementing Linda’s place as one of Britain’s most recognizable actresses.

She later transitioned into daytime television, joining Loose Women in 2003. Over the past two decades, she has remained a regular panelist on the show, discussing topical issues, sharing personal experiences, and engaging in lively debates with her fellow co-hosts.

Despite her commitment to Loose Women, Linda’s latest stage venture proves that she is eager to explore new opportunities and challenge herself professionally.

Supporting a Longtime Friend Through Difficult Times

While Linda is excited about her return to theatre, she has also been dealing with personal heartbreak regarding her close friend and former Birds of a Feather co-star, Pauline Quirke.

Pauline, 65, has been battling dementia for several years, a condition that has deeply affected those closest to her. Linda recently opened up about Pauline’s struggles, revealing that her friend no longer recognizes her or her own children.

“It’s very sad. We’ve been best friends since we were ten,” Linda shared. “She doesn’t know who anybody is. She doesn’t know who I am or who her kids are.”

Linda admitted that she had known about Pauline’s diagnosis for three years but had chosen to keep it private. Now that the news has been made public, she has continued to support her friend in any way she can, including regular FaceTime calls. “There’s not much conversation, but it’s just nice to see her face,” she explained.

Pauline’s husband, Steve Sheen, confirmed last month that she would be stepping away from all commercial and professional duties as she focuses on her health. The devastating progression of her illness has been particularly difficult for those who worked closely with her. Maurice Glen, co-writer of Birds of a Feather, described the situation as heartbreaking, noting that Pauline is now struggling to recognize her loved ones.

Putting Rumors to Rest

Linda also addressed ongoing speculation about supposed feuds within the Loose Women panel, dismissing the rumors entirely. She insisted that the team gets along well, despite reports suggesting otherwise.

“Everyone talks about feuds, but there are no feuds,” she stated. “We’ve all been mates. I’ve been doing it for 20 years, and the show has been going for 25 years. I feel lucky that I’m still doing it.”

She also expressed her appreciation for the mix of experienced and newer panelists on the show. “We’ve got the younger ones on as well now, which is really nice – Myleene [Klass], Frankie Bridge, Olivia Attwood. Then there are the oldies. I’m one of the oldies now! I never dreamt I’d be one of the oldies,” she joked.

A New Chapter for Linda

With a major stage role on the horizon, Linda Robson is embracing new challenges while continuing to make regular appearances on Loose Women. Her upcoming stint in Fawlty Towers: The Play is an exciting next step in her career, proving that she is as ambitious and passionate about performing as ever.

At the same time, she remains committed to supporting her longtime friend Pauline Quirke through her difficult health battle, showing the deep loyalty and compassion that has defined their decades-long friendship.

As she prepares to take on this new theatrical role, fans will undoubtedly be eager to see Linda bring her signature charm and humor to the stage, once again proving why she remains one of the UK’s most cherished entertainers.
