Meghan Markle had to make a swift exit from a recent event for a very sweet reason, it has emerged.
The Duchess of Sussex on Saturday attended a book club panel discussion in Summerland, California, which is located just a few miles from her home in Montecito.
Meghan took part in the discussion at the newly opened Godmothers bookstore and thanked founders Jennifer Rudolph Walsh and Victoria Jackson for “not just creating the space, but for holding the space for so many people to feel seen through the pages, either in laughter, in grief, in feeling less alone.”
The event was also attended by US TV host Oprah Winfrey.
However, it seems like, as the discussion was close to wrapping up, the Duchess had to make a swift dash back home.

According to Town & Country magazine, as she was leaving, Meghan told the attendees: “I’ve got to make dinner for the kids.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex currently reside in Montecito with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
On Saturday, the Duchess stunned in an all-black sleeveless jumpsuit by Club Monaco (£315).
She wore dainty jewellery while she kept hair away from her face by tieing it in a low ponytail.

The previous day, Meghan joined Harry for an intimate gathering at the same bookstore alongside other Hollywood A-listers, including Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi.
The Duchess was a vision in cream as she donned a white tank top and ivory wide-leg trousers (£1,290), both by Ralph Lauren and black suede court shoes.
She accessorised the look with her beloved Cartier Gold Tank Française Watch (£24,900) and Logan Hollowell’s 18k yellow gold Fortuna Tennis necklace with diamonds (£23,236).
