Michael Strahan faced massive backlash after being caught making a M.O.C.K.I.NG REMARK about B.l.a.c.k people right on the street: “Does he not realize he’s one too?”

Michael Strahan, the popular *Good Morning America* host and former NFL star, has

recently voiced his strong opposition to the growing criticism of the Black national anthem ahead of this weekend’s Super Bowl.

The anthem, “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” has been a point of contention for some NFL fans, particularly those in conservative circles.

The backlash against its performance has sparked heated debates, with some even calling for a boycott of the highly anticipated game between the Kansas City Chiefs

and the Philadelphia Eagles. Strahan, however, believes the criticism is rooted in political agendas and misdirected outrage.

The Black national anthem, a powerful and deeply meaningful song to many, has been performed before the Super Bowl for several years, yet it continues to generate strong reactions.

Some critics, particularly among MAGA supporters and Republican figures, argue that the anthem’s inclusion at the Super Bowl is divisive and unnecessary. These individuals were especially vocal after the rendition of the song performed by Andra Day in Las Vegas last year, which drew significant backlash. With the Super Bowl being hosted in New Orleans this year, these same critics are once again calling for a boycott, accusing the NFL of promoting a divisive political agenda.

Michael Strahan, however, has no time for the criticism. The former New York Giants legend told *DailyMail.com* in New Orleans that the outrage surrounding the anthem was “insane.” Strahan expressed his disbelief at how something as uplifting and unifying as the Black national anthem could be viewed negatively. “Everybody got opinions, people get mad over anything man,” Strahan said, adding that people often argue over trivial things that don’t matter in the grand scheme of life. He further emphasized that the backlash was rooted in political motives, suggesting that those criticizing the song simply didn’t like it because it didn’t fit their personal “agenda.”

For Strahan, the song represents a powerful, positive force for those who resonate with it, and he couldn’t understand why anyone would consider it controversial. His sentiments echo a broader argument made by those who defend the Black national anthem’s performance: people have the right to feel pride in their heritage and culture, and the anthem is a meaningful expression of that pride.

This year, the Black national anthem will be performed by Grammy-winning artist Ledisi at the Superdome in New Orleans, adding another layer of significance to the event. Ledisi, clearly emotional about the opportunity, shared her gratitude and the weight of the moment with the press. “I feel like I’m in alignment with greatness to stand in this moment and sing that song,” Ledisi said. She acknowledged the emotional depth of the song, especially as it represents the past, present, and future of the Black community. “I do get choked up. I’m choked up the whole time,” she admitted, recognizing the deep connection to her ancestors and the hopeful feelings the song evokes.

Strahan is not alone in speaking out against the critics of the Black national anthem. ESPN host Stephen A. Smith also weighed in, calling out the hypocrisy of those attacking the anthem and stressing the importance of freedom in America. “Everybody has a right to feel the way that they feel… if you’re not doing harm to anybody else, leave it be,” Smith said. He emphasized that freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and the freedom to think for oneself are core American values that must be protected.

The controversy surrounding the Black national anthem is not just about the song itself; it’s about broader cultural and political divides in America. For some, the song represents a long-overdue recognition of Black history and the struggles of the African American community. For others, it’s seen as a symbol of division. Strahan’s perspective highlights the need to focus on unity and respect for all cultures and communities, rather than letting divisive rhetoric overshadow the positive power of music and culture.

As Super Bowl Sunday approaches, it’s clear that “Lift Every Voice and Sing” will remain a focal point of conversation, both in the stands and beyond. With celebrities like Strahan and Ledisi standing firm in support of the anthem, the debate is unlikely to subside anytime soon. However, for those who see the anthem as a symbol of pride and resilience, its inclusion in the Super Bowl is a moment to celebrate, not criticize.
