Meri Brown, star of *Sister Wives*, has opened up about her dating life nearly two years after her split from ex-husband Kody Brown.
Despite the challenges she faces in her quest to find love, Meri, 53, remains optimistic and is exploring different ways to meet potential partners.
In an interview with *Parade*, published on January 12, 2025, Meri revealed that she has been dating, though she’s not currently in an exclusive relationship.
“Dating has been interesting,” she admitted, noting the complexities that come with dating in a small town. “I live in a small town that has a very, very, very small dating pool,” she said.
To expand her options, she’s considering venturing out to larger cities like Las Vegas or Salt Lake City.
Meri also expressed her willingness to embrace modern dating methods, including using dating apps to connect with new people.
However, she shared some of the difficulties she faces in meeting men organically in public spaces. “I would love to meet somebody just organically out in public, but I just don’t know how to do that. It’s really hard,” she said. She also pointed out that the dynamics of dating have shifted, with men often not initiating conversations with women. “I hear people say men don’t talk to women anymore. They don’t, you know? So it has to be the woman to take the initiative. And I’m like, I don’t want that. If I have to take the initiative and be [the] boss man, then I’m not interested,” she added, expressing her desire for the man to take the lead.
While navigating the dating world can be tricky, Meri remains hopeful about the type of connection she wants. She described her ideal first date as one that involves fun, laughter, and easy conversation. “Dinner would be great, [a] movie would be great. A walk in the park would be great,” she shared. For Meri, an ideal date would be one where there’s room for natural interaction, allowing for more dynamic engagement. “When you’re out and about and you’re doing something, whether it’s just a walk in the park or skiing, I don’t know, whatever, you can kind of interact a little bit more,” she explained.
When it comes to the qualities she’s looking for in a partner, Meri emphasized the importance of independence and shared values. “Somebody who can treat me with kindness and honesty and respect, who can meet my energy,” she said. Physical attraction is also important to her, as she revealed she’s looking for someone “tall” who will also be able to bond with her dog. “And he loves my dog,” Meri added, highlighting the significance of compatibility with her furry companion.
Meri’s dating journey comes after her split from Kody Brown, which was publicly announced in January 2023. The couple, who had been in a spiritual marriage for over 25 years, made the decision to end their relationship after years of effort to make it work. In a joint statement, they shared, “We feel compelled to share our own truth, in our own way and in our own timing. After more than a decade of working on our relationship in our own unique ways, we have made the decision to permanently terminate our marriage relationship.”
Although Meri initially expressed hope for a potential relationship after her separation, her brief romance with Amos Andrews, which began in January 2024, ended just a month later. Meri took to Instagram to confirm their split, explaining that despite their strong feelings for each other, they were not compatible for a long-term commitment. “Just because I care a lot about someone, and him me, does not equate to full compatibility for a long-term relationship,” she wrote. She went on to explain that their different dreams, communication styles, and values ultimately led to their decision to part ways.
As Meri continues to navigate the dating world post-Kody, her openness about the challenges she faces serves as a reminder that finding the right connection takes time, patience, and a willingness to keep trying. Although she is not yet in an exclusive relationship, Meri remains hopeful that love is still a possibility for her in the future. Whether through dating apps, meeting people in larger cities, or simply staying open to new possibilities, Meri is determined to find a relationship that aligns with her needs and desires.
